Oct. 31, 2012 - Texas Tech vs. Kansas (Big 12 Championships Quarterfinals)
SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Just days after shutting out Oklahoma State in front of a national television audience at the John Walker Soccer Complex, the Red Raiders traveled south to San Antonio for the 2012 Big 12 Championships.
The 2-0 shutout of the Cowgirls five days earlier already stood as one of the top victories in program history, but Tech now had its sights on advancing in the conference tournament. With goals from freshman Janine Beckie and senior Dawn Ward in the opening round match against Kansas at Blossom Stadium, the Red Raiders did exactly that.
The victory marked Tech's first in the Big 12 Championships as the Red Raiders were able to overcome a slow start and respond with a dominant performance scoring both goals in the final 45 minutes of play.
In front of the net, junior Victoria Esson turned in his sixth shutout of the season while making six saves.
