Red Raiders 0-2 After Two Big 12 Games Sept. 1, 1999 LUBBOCK, Tex. - Texas Tech opened the 1999 season at No. 8 Nebraska last Friday. The Huskers defeated the Red Raiders 1-0 in the first Big 12 game for both teams. Nebraska scored its only goal at the 53:28 mark on a long pass from left midfield. Tech recorded just one shot and one shot-on-goal by junior midfielder Lindsay Thompson. Sophomore goalkeeper Brittany Peese had an impressive outing against the Huskers as she recorded eight saves in 90 minutes of action. For the game, Tech had one shot, nine saves, one corner kick and six fouls, while Nebraska finished with one goal, one assist, 17 shots, one save, 10 corner kicks and four fouls. Tech was defeated at Iowa State on Sunday, 4-0 to drop its record to 0-2. The Red Raiders outshot the Cyclones 18-14, while sophomore goalkeeper Kellie McCallister had seven saves in 90 minutes. Senior Kristy Frantz had a team-high five shots-on-goal. ISU scored twice in the first half at the 6:01 mark and again at 15:00. In the second half, the Cyclones came out and kicked a goal in the first 27 seconds and then added their final goal at the 49:20 mark. This Week’s Action
The Lady Buffs enter Friday’s game with an 0-2 record after losing to Northern Colorado and Southern Colorado last weekend. In its last game vs. Southern Colorado, West Texas A&M was defeated 2-1 in two overtime periods. The Lady Buffs outshot USC 21-18. Forward Courtney Massie scored the Lady Buffs’ lone goal at 7:50. Goalkeeper Laura Faubian had eight saves in 107 minutes of play, while midfielder Amy Daniels led the team in shots with six. The Lady Razorbacks have an 0-1 record, losing to Tulsa 4-1 in Fayetteville, Ark., last Sunday. Arkansas and Tulsa each had 17 shots. Midfielder Michal-Lynn O’Kelley scored the Lady Razorbacks only goal at the 6:24 mark. Pam Pesnell came off the bench to record a team-high four shots, including three shots-on-goal.

Head Coach Felix Oskam
Prior to coming to Tech in 1995, Oskam served for three years as an assistant coach for both the men’s and women’s programs at the University of Tulsa. During the 1993 season, the Tulsa women’s program finished ranked 18th in the nation. In 1991, the Tulsa men’s team achieved a national ranking of 17. Oskam is currently a staff coach and instructor fro the North Texas Soccer Association and a Region III Olympic Development Program (ODP). He also worked as a staff coach for the ODP in Oklahoma and coached the Blackwatch ‘80 girls team select team in Tulsa. Oskam played 12 years of club soccer in the Netherlands before attending the University of North Texas. While at North Texas, he helped guide the Eagles to their first national ranking and was twice chosen as a Texas Collegiate Soccer League All-Star. Oskam holds a United States Soccer Federation “A” license and is a member of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
