LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's soccer team is set to open the Big 12 portion of its 2004 schedule with the hosting of No. 22 Texas, Fri., Sept. 24, at 7 p.m. Tech will continue its Big 12 quest as it battles No. 14 Texas A&M, Sun., Sept. 26, at 1 p.m. Both matches will be played at R.P. Fuller Stadium.

Tech soccer is coming off a 0-2 weekend series at the University of Texas at El Paso. The Red Raiders battled and were defeated by the Miners of UTEP to a score of 3-2. Tech then matched-up against the Weber State Wildcats. In a defensive battle, that saw only one goal scored in 90 minutes, the Wildcats emerged victorious by a score of 1-0.

The Texas Longhorns are coming off a 1-1 weekend. They defeated Tulane, 6-0, in Austin, Texas, on Fri. Sept. 17. Later that weekend they traveled to No. 6 Portland and were defeated, 3-1. Texas is 4-3-0 on the season and leads the series with Tech, 6-3-1.

The Aggies of Texas A&M are also coming off a 1-1 weekend in College Station. The Aggies were victorious over UC Irvine, 3-0, and were defeated by No. 12 UCLA, 1-0. Texas A&M is 5-3-0 on the season and leads the series with Tech, 9-1-0.

"Our goals have always been to win conference games and make the conference tournament," said head coach Felix Oskam. "We have an advantage starting conference play at home. The problem is we are playing Texas and Texas A&M, two of the best teams in a very competitive conference. We will have to play perfect games in order to beat these two teams. It was a disappointing road trip this past weekend, but we have to learn from our mistakes."

Tickets for the 2004 season are available by calling the Athletic Ticket Office at 742-TECH (8324) or (888) GO-BIG-12.
