Texas Tech 7-6-1 After Beating Intrastate Rivals Texas and Texas A&M
Texas Tech claimed a 3-0 shutout over Texas last Friday. Senior midfielder Lizzy Biles scored the first goal for Tech off a cross from senior forward Kristy Frantz at the 16:24 mark. Frantz then kicked in the second goal at the 25-minute mark on a diagonal cross through ball from junior midfielder Jennifer Hamm. Tech's last score came with 33 seconds left in the game by Hamm on a through ball from sophomore forward Marie Valdez.

Sophomore Brittany Peese played all 90 minutes in goal and tallied six saves, while recording her third shutout of the year.

Texas Tech outshot Texas 21-8, including seven shots-on-goal to UT's six. Each team recorded six corner kicks apiece.

For the second time in two weeks, the Red Raiders upset a ranked opponent by defeating No. 7 Texas A&M 1-0 last Sunday. Sophomore forward Carrie Graham kicked the ball into the lower left-hand corner of the goal on a pass from junior defender Kelly Taylor just 10 minutes into the game to give the Red Raiders the 1-0 lead.

Later in the match, Texas A&M had a few opportunities to score but Peese tallied a couple critical saves. Peese played all 90 minutes in goal and recorded three saves. It was Peese's fourth shut out of the year.

In a very physical match, Tech outshot A&M 14-12, including six shots-on-goal to the Aggies' three. Texas A&M recorded seven corner kicks to the Red Raiders' one.

This Week's Action
Texas Tech will hit the road this weekend, playing at Oklahoma State Friday, Oct. 15 at 7 p.m. and then at Oklahoma on Sunday, Oct. 17 at 1 p.m.

Oklahoma State enters the weekend with a 2-10 record, including 1-5 in Big 12 play after losing at Kansas, 4-2, and at Missouri, 3-0, last weekend. Junior midfielder Andi Lute and junior forward Andrea Larsen lead the Cowgirls with four goals each, while Lute has a team-high four assists. Larsen also has team highs of 26 shots and nine shots-on-goal. The top goalkeeper is freshman Katharine Doud with 50 saves, while allowing 17 goals in 14 games.

Oklahoma has a 2-10-1 record and is 1-5 in conference action after losing at Missouri, 2-0, and at Kansas, 2-1. Sophomore forward Jonette Conquat leads the Sooners in goals with four, points with nine, shots with 50 and shots-on-goal with 20. Six players have one assist each. Freshman midfielder Heather Martinelli is second on the team in goals with three. Junior goalkeeper Ayn Toppin has played in 12 games and has recorded 40 saves, while allowing 14 goals.

Series Records
The Red Raiders are 3-0 against Oklahoma State after winning last year's game 2-1 in Lubbock, Oct. 16. Tech holds a 2-0 advantage over Oklahoma, after shutting out OU last season 3-0 in Lubbock, Oct. 18.

First Time for Everything
Last Sunday's 1-0 victory over No. 7 Texas A&M marked the first time Tech has beaten the Aggies. Texas A&M had won the prior five contests between the two teams.

Second Time in Two Weeks
For the second time in two weeks, Texas Tech upset a ranked opponent with a 1-0 triumph over No. 7 Texas A&M. Tech upset No. 20 Missouri, 4-1, the previous week. The win over Texas A&M was the highest-ranked team Tech has ever beaten.

Graham Gets Third Game-Winning Goal
Sophomore forward Carrie Graham scored her third game-winning goal as the Red Raiders upset No. 7 Texas A&M, 1-0, last Sunday. Graham continues to lead Tech in goals with seven and also has a team-high 15 points.

Peese Has Back-to-Back Shut Outs
Sophomore goalkeeper Brittany Peese recorded back-to-back shut outs with a 3-0 win over Texas Oct. 8 and a 1-0 triumph over Texas A&M Oct. 10. Those two shut outs were Peese's third and fourth of the season. She tallied six saves against Texas and three against Texas A&M.

Head Coach Felix Oskam
Felix Oskam is in his third season as head coach of the Red Raiders and has compiled a 21-24-4 record. Previously, Oskam had served as an assistant coach for the team during the 1995 and 1996 seasons.

Prior to coming to Tech in 1995, Oskam served for three years as an assistant coach for both the men's and women's programs at the University of Tulsa. During the 1993 season, the Tulsa women's program finished ranked 18th in the nation. In 1991, the Tulsa men's team achieved a national ranking of 17. Oskam is currently a staff coach and instructor fro the North Texas Soccer Association and a Region III Olympic Development Program (ODP). He also worked as a staff coach for the ODP in Oklahoma and coached the Blackwatch '80 girls team select team in Tulsa.

Oskam played 12 years of club soccer in the Netherlands before attending the University of North Texas. While at North Texas, he helped guide the Eagles to their first national ranking and was twice chosen as a Texas Collegiate Soccer League All-Star.

Oskam holds a United States Soccer Federation 'A' license and is a member of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
