LUBBOCK, Texas - Following a 1-0 shutout victory over Texas Friday night in Austin, the Texas Tech soccer team returns home Sunday for a non-conference matchup with Francis Marion.
The match has a 1 p.m. first kick at the John Walker Soccer Complex and will serve as Senior Day for nine Texas Tech student-athletes.
The Red Raiders (11-4, 3-2 Big 12) earned their second-consecutive regular season victory over the Longhorns Friday at Mike A. Myers Stadium as Dawn Ward netted the game-winning goal in the 58th minute.With the win, Tech moved into a tie for second place in the Big 12 and will look to extend its winning streak to three games Sunday.
The Red Raiders are 6-1 at home this year where they are outscoring opponents 16-6.
Francis Marion (6-7-1) enters the match following a 5-0 victory over Montreat on Oct. 10, but is winless when playing on the road.
The final home match of the 2012 season is scheduled for Oct. 26 when the Red Raiders face Oklahoma State in the NSCAA/Fox Soccer College Game of the Week. The game will air nationally on Fox Soccer channel and is one of eight women's college games selected this year for the weekly showcase.
