Women's Soccer Squad Continues Play In Colorado
Oct. 18, 1999 Texas Tech 8-7-1/4-4 in Big 12 After Splitting Weekend Games Against OSU, the Cowgirls opened the scoring at 17:07 to take a 1-0 lead. OSU took a 2-0 lead with 25 minutes into the game before the Red Raiders could score. Tech scored to make it 2-1 with just under 10 minutes remaining in the game, as senior defender Jamie Woods recorded a penalty-kick goal caused by an OSU foul in the box. Tech outshot OSU 22-6, including 12 shots-on-goal to OSU's five. Both teams each had five corner kicks. Junior midfielder Jennifer Hamm led all players in shots with six, including two on goal. Sophomore goalkeeper Brittany Peese played all 90 minutes in goal as she tallied three saves. Against OU, Tech shut out the Sooners 1-0. Sophomore forward Carrie Graham scored the game's only goal at the 65:17 mark. Graham, who was assisted by junior defender Kelly Taylor on the play, netted her team-leading eighth score of the season. The Red Raiders outshot OU 17-10 and had four corner kicks to the Sooners' one. Graham paced all players with eight shots with six shots-on-goal. Peese had her fifth shut out of the season as she recorded four saves in 90 minutes of action in goal.
This Week's Action Colorado enters the weekend with a 10-7 record and 3-5 in Big 12 play after losing at Texas A&M 2-0 and at Texas 2-1. Junior forward Melissa Cartmell leads CU in goals with seven followed by sophomore forward Susan Kiefer with five. Cartmell also paces the team with 48 shots, 24 shots-on-goal and 16 points, while three players have a team-high two assists. Sophomore goalkeeper Danielle Bassett has played in all 17 games, recording 125 saves with a 2.00 goals-against-average, while allowing 32 goals. Denver is 6-7-1 on the year after beating Colgate 2-0 on Oct. 10 and losing at Nebraska 2-0 on Oct. 3. Denver's game last weekend was cancelled because of snow. The Pioneers are led in goals by senior midfielder Andrea Raleigh with seven followed by freshman forward Kerri Weaver and sophomore forward/midfielder Molly George with four each. Freshman midfielder Kristin Warren has a team-high five assists. Raleigh also leads Denver in shots with 35 and points with 15. Freshman goalkeeper Erica Izard has played in all 14 games with 82 saves and a 1.30 goals-against average, while allowing 18 goals.

Graham Gets Fourth Game-Winning Goal Peese Records Fifth Shut Out Head Coach Felix Oskam Prior to coming to Tech in 1995, Oskam served for three years as an assistant coach for both the men's and women's programs at the University of Tulsa. During the 1993 season, the Tulsa women's program finished ranked 18th in the nation. In 1991, the Tulsa men's team achieved a national ranking of 17. Oskam is currently a staff coach and instructor fro the North Texas Soccer Association and a Region III Olympic Development Program (ODP). He also worked as a staff coach for the ODP in Oklahoma and coached the Blackwatch Ô80 girls team select team in Tulsa. Oskam played 12 years of club soccer in the Netherlands before attending the University of North Texas. While at North Texas, he helped guide the Eagles to their first national ranking and was twice chosen as a Texas Collegiate Soccer League All-Star. Oskam holds a United States Soccer Federation 'A' license and is a member of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
