LUBBOCK, Texas - For her work off the playing field, Texas Tech junior midfielder Megan Hoffert was named the school's representative for the Big 12's Fall Community of Champions Tuesday.

To be nominated, a student-athlete must maintain a 3.0 GPA, be involved in at least one community-service project, and must demonstrate leadership and sportsmanship both on and off the field.

Hoffert is the president for the Student-Athlete Committee and also serves in various community outreach programs in Lubbock..

"Obviously, we are very proud of Megan for not only her work on the field, but also in the classroom and in the community," Tech head coach Tom Stone said. "Megan resembles exactly what a student-athlete should be, and she serves as a perfect example for our players and for youth players around the area."

The Red Raiders close the regular season this weekend at home against in-state rival Texas A&M Friday night and on Sunday against TCU.
