DALLAS, Texas - Texas Tech University senior Amy Rutstein has been named the Big 12 Conference Soccer Player of the Week the league office announced today.

Rutstein, a native of Spring, Texas, led the Red Raiders to three conference wins last as Tech moved into fourth place in the race for the 1998 Big 12 Conference Tournament in San Antonio, Texas. Rutstein collected goals in each of the three victories which saw Tech outscore last week's opponents 6-1. The senior forward scored the only goal in the 1-0 win against Kansas, collected both TTU goals in the 2-1 overtime win against visiting Oklahoma State and scored twice in Tech's 3-0 win over Oklahoma. She has scored the game-winning goal in five of Tech's six victories.

Rutstein leads the Red Raiders in scoring this season with 26 points (12 goals and two assists), good for fifth in the league for overall games. In conference action, she is third in total points with 14. She is tied for 11th in the nation in goals per game with a 1.00 average.
