Tech, Oklahoma State Battle on FOX Soccer Channel Friday
Oct. 25 2012
LUBBOCK, Texas - On perhaps the largest stage ever hosted by the John Walker Soccer Complex, Texas Tech will conclude its 2012 regular season Friday night in a showdown with Oklahoma State as part of the NCSAA College Game of the Week.
The match, which has a 7 p.m. scheduled first kick, will be televised nationally by FOX Soccer Channel as the Red Raiders look to set a school record for wins in a regular season.
"It's just a fantastic opportunity for both our soccer program and our university," Texas Tech head coach Tom Stone said. "It's going to be a great match on a great stage. Oklahoma State is a quality opponent and we are looking to close out our regular season on a high note."
The Red Raiders collected their 13th victory of the year in Lawrence on Sunday to tie the school record for wins in a single-season and enter Friday's match on a four game unbeaten streak. During the streak, which includes victories over Texas, Francis Marion and Kansas, the Red Raiders have outscored opponents by a margin of 8-2.
Texas Tech (13-4-1, 4-2-1 Big 12) and Oklahoma State (11-4-3, 1-3-3 Big 12) squared off against one another on the NCSAA College Game of the Week last year in Stillwater where the Cowgirls took the match 2-0.
Texas Tech is 7-1 in home matches this year to mark the third consecutive season in which the Red Raiders have won at least seven games on their home field. The Red Raiders have outscored opponents 19-6 at the John Walker Soccer Complex.
