LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's soccer team's season could very well be on the line this weekend as the 1998 regular season wraps up for the Red Raiders. Texas Tech (7-5-3, 3-3-2 Big 12) faces ninth-ranked Nebraska (13-2-1, 8-0 Big 12) Friday at 3 p.m. and Iowa State (9-6-1, 4-4 Big 12) Sunday at 1 p.m. Both games will take place at R.P. Fuller Stadium on the campus of Texas Tech. Free t-shirts will be distributed to the first 100 fans attending Friday's game against Nebraska.

The Red Raiders look to secure a position in the 1998 Big 12 Soccer Tournament, scheduled for Nov. 5-8 in San Antonio. The top six teams at the end of the regular season will play for the conference title. Texas Tech enters Friday's game in seventh place, one point behind Iowa State.

The #9 Nebraska Cornhuskers are unbeaten in conference play (8-0) and are 11-0-1 since Sept. 20. Nebraska's only losses come at the hands of #25 UCLA and Wisconsin-Milwaukee. The Huskers are 3-1-1 against top-25 teams this season. Senior forward Kim Engesser leads Nebraska in scoring with 21 goals and five assists (47 points). Sophomore Karina LeBlanc has been stellar in goal, posting a goals-against-average of 0.66 in 1,226 minutes of play. She has recorded eight shutouts with a 12-1-1 record. As a team, Nebraska has outscored its opponents, 54-13.

The Iowa State Cyclones have won their last three games, allowing only one goal during that time. Freshman midfielder Erica Florez tops the Cyclones in scoring with nine goals and three assists.
