SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Riding the momentum of a six-match unbeaten streak, Texas Tech is primed for a highly-anticipated rematch Friday night in the semifinals of the Big 12 Soccer Championships.
After securing the program's first-ever victory in the postseason conference tournament on Wednesday, the Red Raiders will face Baylor Friday at 8 p.m. in San Antonio for a chance to at the conference championship.
"The spirits are high," Texas Tech head coach Tom Stone said Thursday. "We had a great day of practice today, and we just want to make sure we are prepared and ready for Baylor tomorrow night."
The Red Raiders (15-4-1) used two second-half goals Wednesday afternoon to earn its second victory over Kansas this year. Big 12 Rookie of the Year and reigning Disney Soccer NSCAA Player of the Week Janine Beckie scored the initial goal before senior Dawn Ward put the game away in the 82nd minute with her third goal of the season.
Baylor advanced to the semifinals after defeating Oklahoma State 3-0 Wednesday night.
Texas Tech set a school record for wins in a single season this year with 14 during the regular season before Wednesday's victory in quarterfinal round of the Big 12 tournament.
