Tech Women's Soccer Heads To Big 12 Tournament
Nov. 1, 1999 Texas Tech Finishes Regular Season 8-10-1/4-6 in the Big 12 Last Saturday in Waco, the Red Raiders got on the board first when senior midfielder Lizzy Biles scored off an assist from sophomore forward Carrie Graham in the ninth minute of play. From there on, Baylor scored five straight goals, with four of them coming in the first half. Later in the second half, Biles scored again at 78:52. Biles had a team-high six shots, including three shots-on-goal, while four other players each had one shot-on-goal. Sophomore goalkeeper Brittney Peese played all 90 minutes in goal and tallied nine saves. The Bears took 14 shots-on-goal compared to the Red Raiders seven. Tech had four corner kicks, while Baylor had five.
This Week’s Action - Big 12 Conference Tournament Nebraska enters the tournament with a 17-1-1 overall record and a perfect 10-0 mark in the Big 12. The Huskers are currently ranked fourth in the country. Nebraska is led by sophomore midfielder Meghan Anderson with a team-high 18 goals followed by senior forward Lindsay Eddleman and sophomore forward Kelly Rheem with nine each. Junior midfielder Jenny Benson leads the Huskers in assists with 13. Anderson also has team-highs of 46 points, 78 shots and 45 shots-on-goal. Junior goalkeeper Karina LeBlanc has played in goal all 19 games with a 0.53 goals-against-average, while recording 43 saves and allowing 10 goals.
Series Records In the first meeting this season, Nebraska scored its only goal at the 53:28 mark on a long pass from left midfield. Tech recorded just one shot and one shot-on-goal by junior midfielder Lindsay Thompson. Sophomore goalkeeper Brittney Peese had an impressive outing against the Huskers as she recorded eight saves in 90 minutes of action. For the game, Tech had one shot, nine saves, one corner kick and six fouls, while Nebraska finished with one goal, one assist, 17 shots, one save, 10 corner kicks and four fouls.

Most Wins for Oskam
Head Coach Felix Oskam Prior to coming to Tech in 1995, Oskam served for three years as an assistant coach for both the men’s and women’s programs at the University of Tulsa. During the 1993 season, the Tulsa women’s program finished ranked 18th in the nation. In 1991, the Tulsa men’s team achieved a national ranking of 17. Oskam is currently a staff coach and instructor fro the North Texas Soccer Association and a Region III Olympic Development Program (ODP). He also worked as a staff coach for the ODP in Oklahoma and coached the Blackwatch ‘80 girls team select team in Tulsa. Oskam played 12 years of club soccer in the Netherlands before attending the University of North Texas. While at North Texas, he helped guide the Eagles to their first national ranking and was twice chosen as a Texas Collegiate Soccer League All-Star. Oskam holds a United States Soccer Federation “A” license and is a member of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
