KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Fresh off the most successful regular season in school history, the Texas Tech soccer team is set to begin postseason play with the first round of the Big 12 Soccer Championship Wednesday night in Kansas City.
The No. 2 seed Red Raiders will face No. 7 seed TCU with an 8 p.m. kickoff at the Swope Soccer Village.
Tech (16-1-2, 6-0-2 Big 12) shutout the Horned Frogs 2-0 in their regular season meeting Oct. 4 at the John Walker Soccer Complex, and enters Wednesday's contest having shutout each of its last four opponents.
The Red Raiders, who climbed to No. 11 in the NSCAA rankings released Tuesday, boast the No. 2 defense nationally in goals-against average (.307) having allowed just six in 19 matches this season while shutting out 15 of their 19 opponents. Tech hasn't allowed a goal in the first half this season and gave up just two goals in Big 12 play.

STORYLINESRED RAIDERS FINISH PROGRAM-BEST SECOND IN BIG 12
With a 1-0 shutout victory over Texas in the regular season finale Sunday, the Red Raiders secured a program-best second place finish in the final Big 12 standings. Tech finished conference play unbeaten with a 6-0-2 record and with a school record 16 regular season victories. The Red Raiders enter the Big 12 Tournament with the No. 2 seed and will face TCU at 8 p.m. Wednesday in Kansas City. TECH SETS SCHOOL RECORD FOR ALL-CONFERENCE SELECTIONS
Texas Tech set a school record with five Red Raiders selected to the postseason All-Big 12 Teams announced by the conference office Monday. Three Red Raiders were tabbed by the conference coaches as First Team selections while two were named to the Second Team. Meanwhile, two Red Raiders were named to the All-Big 12 Newcomer Team.
