LUBBOCK, Texas - The Big 12 Conference released its Academic All-Big 12 Team that included 10 Red Raiders, nine on the first team and one on the second team.

Tech was well represented on the first-team roster, second to Nebraska with 10 players on the team. Red Raiders named to the team were, seniors Carrie Graham, Brittney Peese and Marie Valdez, junior Lindsey Wile and sophomores Tiana Boyea, Tracy Loyd, Rachel Mavris, Ellen McNamara, and Lindsey Scott. Senior Melanie Brosnahan was the lone Red Raider named to the second team.

McNamara, a pre-law major from Dallas, was one of just three players on the team to earn a 4.0. "Ellen is unbelievable," noted Tech soccer coach Felix Oskam. "To earn a 4.0 as a freshman, that is big time." Hilla Rantala of Kansas and Jana Cunningham of Oklahoma join McNamara as the only players who earned a 4.0 GPA.

Oskam went on to commend the efforts of the academic service department stating, "Academics is what college is all about. I am proud to have so many players named to the All-Big 12 Team. It just goes to show that we have a tremendous support system in place for our student-athletes."

To be named as a first-team selection athletes must maintain at least a 3.2 GPA and play in at least 60 percent of its team's games, while second-team selections must maintain at least a 3.0.
