SAN ANTONIO, Texas - For their work off the field, nine Texas Tech players were named to the Academic All-Big 12 Soccer First Team, the conference announced today.

Juniors Chessa Purser, Shannon Sims, and Tina Rincon were chosen to the first team for the second consecutive season, while senior Kim Cypert was selected for the third straight year.

Sophomores Sarabeth Clopton, Brittney Harrison, Megan Hoffert, Jennifer Kammerer, and Maegan Wilber are all first-time recipients.

To qualify for first team status, a student-athlete must have a 3.2 GPA, while also participating in 60 percent of the team's scheduled contests.

The Red Raiders' nine student-athletes was the third most among conference schools. 95 total student-athletes were selected.

Tech will look to continue its successful season Wednesday, as the Red Raiders face Missouri at 1:30 p.m. in the first round of the 2007 Big 12 Championship. All championship matches will be broadcast live on texastech.com.
