LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech junior defender Jaelene Hinkle was officially named today to the NSCAA/Continental Tire All-America Third Team as announced by the organization.
Hinkle, a Denver, Colo. native and three-time NSCAA All-Region selection, is the second Red Raider to be named to the All-America team in as many seasons.
"We are thrilled that Jaelene has been named to the All-America team," Texas Tech head coach Tom Stone said. "We see her play every day, so we've known since her freshman year what a special player Jaelene is. The 2013 season has been her best to date, so it's fitting that she has been recognized."
A standout defender and 2013 All-Big 12 First Team selection, Hinkle paced the Red Raiders with six assists in 2013 as Tech made its second-straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament. With the impressive season Hinkle moved into fourth all-time at Texas Tech in the category with 15 assists in her stellar career.
Three of her assists came in conference play and one came in a 3-0 victory over Minnesota in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
Hinkle was named to the NSCAA/Continental Tire All-Central Region First Team earlier this week, marking her third consecutive season to be recognized on the regional level.
Texas Tech is one of just two Big 12 programs to have at least one All-American in each of the last two seasons. The Red Raiders finished the 2013 campaign with an 18-2-3 mark which set a school record for most wins in a season, and advanced to the second round of the NCAA postseason.
