Texas Tech Softball Program Adds Assistant

Collett Joins Red Raider Fastpitch Staff

LUBBOCK, Texas -- Former Academic All-American Beth Collett has been hired as an assistant softball coach, Texas Tech Head Coach Renee Luers-Gillispie announced today.

"We are really pleased to have Beth join our program. She is a talented individual who is enthusiastic about working with our players," Luers-Gillispie said.

A 1997 graduate, Collett worked as a student coach for South Carolina last season as they advanced to the NCAA College World Series. She was a four-year letterwinner who played first base for the Gamecocks. During her senior season, Collett was chosen as an Academic All-American.

"I came to Tech because of the Big 12 Conference and because I wanted to help build a successful program. I think we can do some great things and I am really excited about the challenge," Collett said.

The Red Raiders will begin their fall softball season on Sept. 13-14 as they host the Texas Tech Invitational Tournament at the Texas Tech Intramural Field.
