Cowgirls Take Two from Texas Tech
STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State's 17th-ranked softball team took two games from the Texas Tech Lady Raiders Saturday afternoon, recording wins of 11-1 and 9-5 at Cowgirl Field. The Cowgirls combined for 29 hits in the two games.
Jaime Foutch, a sophomore from Edmond, Okla., provided most of the punch offensively for the Cowgirls, going 5-for-7 with three runs scored and eight runs batted in for the two games. She had two doubles in the first game and a three-run home run in the second.
Leanne Tyler extended her hitting streak to 12 games as she went 3-for-4 in the first game and 3-for-3 in the second. Her batting average rose from .313 to .379 following her performance in Saturday's games.
Freshman Amy Lopez (9-3) pitched the first game for the Cowgirls and allowed just one run on four hits in five innings. The game was called in the bottom of the fifth with two outs due to the mercy rule as the Cowgirls scored eight runs in the inning and went up by 10 runs.
In game two, Tyler pitched as well and recorded a complete game as she upped her record to 9-4. She had seven strikeouts and just two earned runs in the Cowgirls 9-5 victory.
Oklahoma State (26-12 overall, 2-1 in Big 12) will host the Baylor Bears on Sunday at 12 and 2 p.m. at Cowgirl Field.
