Sooners Take a Pair from Texas Tech
NORMAN, Okla. - The Texas Tech softball dropped a pair of games to Oklahoma Sunday by scores of 3-0 and 6-2. The losses dropped the Red Raiders record to 33-23.
In the first game the Sooners took a lead in the third inning they would not relinquish. They added two insurance runs in the sixth inning and held Texas Tech scoreless, leading to the 3-0 final.
Red Raider third baseman Kim Martinez led Texas Tech at the plate, goint 2-for-3 in the first game of the twinbill.
Emily Hayes took the loss, despite only giving up only five hits and one earned run in her six innings pitched.
In game two, Texas Tech fell behind 3-0 in the first inning and the score was 5-0 before the Red Raiders got on the board.
Texas Tech struck for its only two runs of the doubleheader in the fourth, when Ellen Middleton and and Kim Martinez crossed home plate. Rightfielder Lora DeLashmutt had an RBI in the inning.
Danielle Brady took the loss, pitching two innings while surrendering five earned runs.
The Red Raiders return to action next Saturday at Iowa State.
