Red Raiders Drop Two to Baylor
WACO, Texas - The Texas Tech softball team lost both games of a doubleheader to Big 12 rival Baylor Saturday. The Red Raiders fell 1-0 in game one and were also shutout in the nightcap, 3-0. With the losses, Texas Tech falls to 34-26-1 overall and 1-11 in Big 12 action.
Game one was a tight defensive battle throughout. Baylor scored the only run of the game in the fifth inning when Misty Perry doubled in the fifth inning, driving in Jennie Vargas. Emily Hayes was the hard-luck loser for Texas Tech, giving up one run on six hits.
Baylor got on the board with a 2-0 lead in the first inning of game two and never looked back. The Bears recorded their second shutout of the day and closed the door with an insurance run in the fifth. Texas Tech dropped the game despite outhitting the Bears 6-5.
