Brooke Reed enters her first season with the Texas Tech softball program after being named the director of operations in October 2013.
Reed, a native of Lake Charles, La., joins the Tech staff after spending the 2013 season as an assistant coach at Mississippi Valley State where she helped lead the Devilettes to the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Tournament title and a trip to the NCAA Mobile Regional.
"We're excited to add Brooke to our staff," Hays said. "Brooke has helped build winning teams in each of her previous two coaching stops and I know she will bring that same attitude in this new role. She'll be a great addition to the program."
Reed, who coached infielders and hitters while at Mississippi Valley, joined the program after a year as the volunteer assistant coach at her alma mater, Western Kentucky.
She played two seasons for the Hilltoppers where she served as a co-captain and led the team in runs scores and hits during her 2009 junior season. Western Kentucky combined to go 62-44 during her two seasons.
Reed transferred to Western Kentucky after playing two years at Birmingham-Southern College where she led the Panthers in both stolen bases and runs scored as a freshman.
"I am very excited to be joining the Texas Tech softball program," Reed said. "I want to thank the coaching staff and athletic department for giving me this opportunity to be part of the Red Raider family. I am looking forward to a successful career at Tech."
