Sarah Losleben will serve the 2009 season as a student assistant coach while she pursues her degree in psychology at Texas Tech.
Athletic pitcher struggled early in the season before catching fire at the end...Lowered her season ERA by 1.83 over the last month of the season, giving up just two runs, only one of which was earned...Finishes her career ranked among the school's all-time leaders nearly every major pitching category, including wins (22), games started (38), complete games (17), innings pitched (341.0), appearances (113) and strikeouts (298)...First-Team Academic All-Big 12 selection...Made 27 appearances with 62 innings pitched, recording a 5-3 record and two saves...Struck out 6 in 5.1 innings of work against California at the ASU Kajikawa Classic...Picked up four strikeouts in two shutout innings of relief against Western Kentucky in the same tournament...Picked up her first career RBI at the plate when she walked to bring in a run against the College of Charleston...Notched six strikeouts in a game against Kansas...Allowed just two runs, one earned, from April 10 to May 10...Fanned a season-high seven in five innings of work against New Mexico at the end of the year...Allowed just two hits in five and a third innings against Oklahoma State in the last two games of the regular season...threw three no-hit innings against Nebraska in the semifinals of the Big 12 Tournament.
Came on in relief 14 times in addition to 17 starts and posting 7 wins to finish with 116.1 innings pitched, a 3.97 ERA and to add 94 strikeouts to the staff's line ... The Pacific Northwest righthander has been a Coach Wilson pitching student since she was seven and she currently ranks No. 4 all-time for Tech in total strikeouts and No. 2 in Ks per 7 innings categories, along with moving up the total wins chart ... A ridiculously good student, she has earned Academic All-Big 12 honors each eligible year, was one (of two) Margaret E. Wilson Award winners in 2007 and is the team's McHaney Scholar for 2008.
Hard luck pitcher in the early part of the season, came on strong in the final half and kept opponents in line ... finished with a team-high 19 games in relief and tied with Crawford in games finished with 14 ... recorded a season-high 10 strikeouts in win over UTSA on 4/26/06 ... Working her way up the career pitching leaders at Tech, notably already ranks second in strikeouts per 7 innings at a 6.52 clip ... An outstanding student, she earned a spot on the Academic All-Big 12 first team and again was named to the President's List (4.0 g.p.a.) in the fall 2006.
Made 31 appearances on the mound during her freshman campaign, including nine starts ... Compiled an 8-2 record and 3.17 ERA with 77 strikeouts ... Finished second on the team with 86 innings pitched ... Started her first game and picked up her first win on Feb. 4 against Wichita State -- scattering five hits and one run in four innings ... Tossed eight shutout innings to lead Texas Tech to a 1-0 victory over Alabama-Birmingham on Feb. 26 ... Also collected three at bats in two games as an outfielder.
