FRESHMAN SEASON (2014)
Recorded possibly the best freshman season in school history ... started in 51 of 54 games on the season while hitting a team-leading .418 overall, missing only three games due to injury ... became of the nation's premier left-handed hitters with 69 base hits to go along with a school-record 36 stolen bases ... was the Big 12 leader among freshmen for both batting average and stolen bases ... among the national leaders for freshmen in both categories as well ... reached base in all but six games on the season ... posted the longest reached base streak (17 games) and hitting streak (13 games) among Red Raiders ... could hit for power as well as for speed with 13 extra-base hits ... totaled eight doubles, three triples and a pair of home runs ... slugged .539 overall which ranked third on the team ... her .487 on-base percentage led the team ... her 36 stolen bases snapped the previous Texas Tech single-season record of 34 that was set by Ashley Parker in 2006 ... ended the year ranked second in the conference for stolen bases and in the top 20 nationally ... joined with Lea Hopson to form one of the nation's top base stealing duos ... tandem helped the Red Raiders snap the school single-season record for stolen bases with 92 on the season ... helped Tech lead the Big 12 in the category as well as rank in the top 20 nationally as a team ... recorded a team-high 22 multiple-hit games ... added eight multiple-RBI performances as well which tied for second on the team ... posted first career multiple-hit game Feb. 8 against UMKC ... finished 2-for-4 with four RBI in the victory ... the four RBI marked a season high and all came off a third inning grand slam ... marked the first home run of her collegiate career ... followed up with multiple-hit games in each of her next three games ... one of best performances of the year came March 6 against UT Arlington ... went a perfect 4-for-4 against the Mavericks with three runs scored ... matched her season high for hits by going 4-for-4 on March 16 against Long Beach State ... previously totaled three RBI in a 2-for-3 performance March 9 against Northern Colorado ... connected on her final home run of the year with a three-run blast that secured the run-rule victory in the sixth inning ... stole a pair of bases in the win as well ... was one of eight games with two stolen bases ... named the Big 12 Player of the Week on March 18 after hitting a team-leading .565 (13-for-23) during Tech's trip to the state of California ... marked just second time in program history where a Tech freshman had earned a conference weekly award ... was first time a Red Raider had been named the Big 12 Player of the Week since Adriana Perez garnered the accolade on April 3, 2012 ... missed the final three games of non-conference play against Texas State ... IN BIG 12 PLAY ... one of four Red Raiders to start and play in every conference game ... led all players with a .379 batting average while playing in one of the nation's top pitching conferences ... totaled eight stolen bases in league play alone to go along with three doubles and eight RBI ... finished tied for team high with 13 runs scored as well ... posted eight of her multiple-hit games against conference foes ... reached base in 14 of 18 total games ... recorded three multiple-RBI performances as well ... struggled early in conference play after returning from injury ... recovered to record at least one hit in 11 of the final 14 games ... best performance of the year came in the April 11 series opener against Oklahoma State ... went 3-for-3 with two RBI in the victory ... also went 3-for-3 in the series opener the following week at Kansas ... added another good day at the plate to secure the series the following outing with a 2-for-4 performance that included two stolen bases and two runs scored ... marked her fourth multiple-hit game in a five-game stretch ... single-handily sent the Red Raiders into extra innings against the Jayhawks by singling to start the seventh inning, stealing second base and then racing home after the throw bounced off her back and into left field ... game-tying run sent Tech into an eventual 9-7 victory in nine innings to secure the series ... recorded two each in every game of the Iowa State series ... added a pair of RBI in the series opener as well ... closed successful freshman campaign with a hit in five of final six games ... IN THE BIG 12 RANKINGS ... ranked second for batting average and stolen bases, fourth for triples, fifth for on-base percentage, sixth for total hits and seventh for runs scored ... in conference games only, ranked tied for second in hits and stolen bases and then seventh for batting average ... IN NCAA RANKINGS ... ranked 11th nationally in stolen bases per game ... also among national leaders ranking 38th in batting average, 46th in runs per game, 93rd in on-base percentage and 114th for triples ... IN THE TEXAS TECH SINGLE-SEASON RECORD BOOK ... ended the season as the program's all-time leader with 36 stolen bases ... her batting average ranked second in school history while her 69 hits was fourth overall ... also among the top 10 in runs scored (5th) and triples (5th) ... AWARDS AND HONORS ... named to the All-Big 12 first team ... one of just two conference freshmen on the first team ... seventh Red Raider all-time to be named to the first team ... just the fourth Red Raider freshman to ever be named to the first team ... one of three freshmen named to the All-Big 12 teams, joining Cassie McClure ... marked first time since 1998 where two freshmen have been named to the conference postseason teams ... also an NFCA All-Central Region second team honoree ... one of three Red Raiders honored on the teams, the most for Tech since 2011 ... marked first time Tech has had two freshmen honored in school history.
RIDGE POINT HIGH SCHOOL
One of the more athletic players coming out of the state of Texas in 2013 ... played her final two seasons at Ridge Point High School ... helped lead the Lady Panthers to the regional finals as a senior ... marked the furthest Ridge Point had ever advanced in the Class 4A playoffs ... was an all-state selection by both the Texas Girls Coaches Association (TGCA) and Texas Sports Writers Association (TSWA) as a senior ... named the MVP of District 22-4A as a senior as well ... played in the TGCA All-Star Game following the season ... was teammates with current Red Raider Cassie McClure in the game ... led Ridge Point in home runs as a junior en route to be named an unanimous all-district pick ... earned all-area honors as both a junior and senior ... member of Ridge Point's volleyball program as well ... played first two years at Elkins High School ... member of the KAOS Gold travel team ... program was a two-time 18-under Golf PDF national qualifier ... New York City Triple Crown national qualifier as well ... three-year team captain for the program ... also named a Triple Crown All-American.
Sydni Brooke Emanuel ... born to parents Bert and Teri Emanuel ... oldest of five children ... has younger siblings, Cortni, Brittni, Whitni, B.J. ... her sister, Cortni, is a Texas Tech signee and will join the program for the 2015 season ... father played football collegiately at Rice before being drafted in the second round of the 1994 NFL Draft by the Atlanta Falcons ... also played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Miami Dolphins, New England Patriots and Detroit Lions during his pro career ... father was also a standout baseball player who was drafted out of high school by the Toronto Blue Jays ... member of the Rice baseball team during the spring and was later drafted out of college by the Pittsburgh Pirates ... mother graduated from Texas A&M University ... biochemistry major with a minor in psychology.
