Albuquerque, N.M. -

The Texas Tech Softball team fell 4-2 to the University of New Mexico this morning in the final game of a three-game series.

The Red Raiders fell behind early due to a Lobo offensive explosion. The Lobos, led by sophomore shortstop Marianna Fennelli (2 hits, 2 runs (1 HR and 1 2b), 2 at-bats), hit two home-runs to start off the game and Texas Tech was never able to recover. New Mexico had six hits on 25 at-bats, two home-runs and two RBI's.

The lone bright spot for Texas Tech came at the top of the fourth-inning when junior Tamara Harrington singled and Shauna Briggs scored to bring the game to 2-1. However, New Mexico would answer the Tech offense as the Lobos scored two runs in the sixth-inning to put the game away.

Sophomore pitcher Kathy Moore took the win for the Lobos while sophomore Amanda Renfro took the loss for Texas Tech to bring her record to 1-1 on the season.

Texas Tech travels to Arlington, Texas, next weekend for the 6th Annual University of Texas-Arlington/Pepsi-Cola InterCollegiate Classic. Tech will face the University of Illinois-Chicago Friday, Feb 12, at 9:00 a.m.
