LAS CRUCES, N.M. - Brooke Silva connected on a two-out, two-run single in the bottom of the seventh inning that sent Weber State to a 3-2 walk-off victory over Texas Tech Friday afternoon at the NMSU Softball Complex.

The walk-off single, which came on an 0-2 pitch, was the third hit in the game for Silva, who fell a triple shy of the cycle as she doubled in the first inning and then provided Weber State's only other run with a solo home run in the third.

Silva finished 3-for-4 at the plate with all three Weber State (4-2) RBI. Her final hit came off Cara Custer (1-2), who suffered the loss after starting the inning with a leadoff walk and then plunking Rudi Barrios on another 0-2 pitch.

The loss spoiled a solid start to the Troy Cox Classic for the Red Raiders (4-3), who opened the day with a 14-6 rout of Northern Colorado. Tech could never find the offensive rhythm it had in the opener, though, settling for just five hits and two runs.

Cassie McClure, playing on her birthday, and Sydni Emanuel led Tech offensively with 1-for-3 and 2-for-4 performances at the plate. The pair was responsible for Tech's two runs with Emanuel scoring on a wild pitch in the fifth and McClure following shortly after with a RBI ground out to second that plated Brittany Lee.

Jasmine Ioane (2-0) picked up the win for Weber State as she tossed three shutout innings in relief of MaCauley Flint. Ioane allowed just one hit, a leadoff single from Brittany Warnecke in the sixth, before retiring the final five Red Raiders in order.

Even with a slow game offensively, Brittany Talley appeared set to improve to 3-0 early in the year as the left-hander, who is the reigning Big 12 Pitcher of the Week, allowed just the Silva home run in the third in her 4.1 innings.

She was relieved by Custer with one out in the fifth inning. Custer ended the game allowing just one hit in 2.1 innings while striking out three and walking one.

The Red Raiders resume the Troy Cox Classic at 10:30 a.m. CT Saturday morning against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. Tech will face Weber State immediately following that game.
