Arlington, Texas -

The Texas Tech softball team found a win this morning against Nicholls State but couldn't find the consistency they had been looking for as the Red Raiders fell to Ole Miss in the first game of tournament bracket play this afternoon.

The Red Raiders completed pool play this morning against the Colonels of Nicholls State and were able to find the win column by posting a 3-1 victory. Tech was led by sophomore Jennifer Beach who had two hits, one run and one RBI on four at-bats. Junior transfer, Shauna Briggs, paced the Tech defensive effort by recording 12 putouts. With the win, Tech ended a four game losing skid.

In the first game of tournament bracket play this afternoon, Tech hoped to use some earlier momentum to overcome the Ole Miss Rebels who defeated Northeast Louisiana (4 to 2) earlier in the day. The game remained scoreless until the bottom of the fourth inning when Ole Miss scored two runs on three hits. Texas Tech was never able to make a recovery as they fell to the Rebels by a final score of 4-0. The game marked the first time this season that the Red Raiders were shutout.

Tech will play the University of Arkansas tomorrow morning at 9:00 a.m. in consolation bracket play. The winner of the game moves on to a 1:00 p.m. matchup while the loser falls out of tournament play.
