Poway, CA -

The Texas Tech softball team needed consistency but couldn't find it today as they fell to the Long Beach State 49ers 1-0.

The game was tied going into the bottom of the seventh inning when Erin Tucker grounded into a double play to send the game into extra innings. Then in the bottom of the ninth inning, Long Beach State's Kristi Fox hit a sacrifice fly to send home Jennifer Spigner and take the game 1-0.

Sophomore Amanda Renfro (3-4) took the loss for the Red Raiders while Kristi Fox (2-2) got the win for Long Beach State. Senior Kim Martinez led all Tech batters with two hits on three at-bats.

In yesterday's action, Tech fell to Stanford 1-0. Tech will face Cal-State Northridge at 11:30 a.m., Sacramento State at 2:00 p.m. and San Diego State at 7:00 p.m..
