The Texass Tech fastpitch softball team defeated the Texas A&M Corpus Christi Islanders 5-0 at the Corpus Christi "Bash by the Bay" Tournament at Corpus Christi's Cabannis Field, improving to 5-14 on the season. The Red Raiders benefitted from 7 innings of shutout pitching by Amanda Renfro and three hits off the bat of Lynsey Haij to win the tournament's opening game.

Renfro (3-7) pitched her 10th complete game of the season, facing 22 batters, only one over the minimum. She also struck out 12 while walking none and allowing three hits. Haij went 3-for-4 at the plate with one RBI and two runs scored.

Tech scored three runs in the third inning to take the lead. Renfro would then go on to completely shut down the Islanders. She struck out the side twice and the Islanders never advanced a runner past first base until the seventh inning.
