TEXAS TECH TEAM NOTES
Texas Tech improved to 2-0 all-time against Troy as the two school were meeting for the first time ever this weekend.
The Red Raiders defeated the Trojans by a combined score of 26-3 after an 11-3 victory on Sunday afternoon.
Texas Tech closed the Jeannine McHaney Memorial Classic with a 6-1 record to improve the Red Raiders to 18-1 all-time in the tournament which is in its third year of existence.
Texas Tech won all six games this season via run-rule as the Red Raiders outscored opponents, 75-21, over seven games.
The win marked Texas Tech's fifth-straight, matching its longest winning streak of the season.
The Red Raiders hit .437 as a team during the tournament with 12 home runs and 69 RBI. Texas Tech now has 34 home runs on the season through 27 games.
Hays improved to 254-75 for his career with two wins on Sunday and then 140-59 in his three-plus seasons at Texas Tech.
Perez went 3-for-4 at the plate with three RBI for her ninth multiple-hit game this year and eighth game with at least two RBI. She wrapped the tournament hitting .500 (10-for-20) over seven games with two home runs and a team-high 11 RBI.
Kenney powered her ninth home run of the season and 41st of her career to lead off the first for the Red Raiders. It was Kenney's fourth leadoff home run already this season.
Johnson extended her season-opening stretch to reach base as she has now found her way to first base in all 27 games after going 3-for-3 with three runs scored and three RBI. It was her 11th multiple-hit game of the year and third multiple-RBI performance.
Johnson ended the tournament hitting a team-high .652 (15-for-23) over seven games with two doubles, 10 runs scored, 10 RBI and four walks. She recorded a team-high .704 on-base percentage as well with five stolen bases.
Williams recorded her fifth multiple-hit game of the tournament and 12th on the season after going 2-for-3 at the plate with three RBI. She closed the tournament with a .545 batting average (12-for-22).
Elkins drove in a pair of runs with a single in the third, marking her third multiple-RBI game this season.
Custer picked up her third win of the weekend as she tossed four shutout innings with four strikeouts and just three hits to improve to 9-2 on the year.
