WICHITA, Kansas - Texas Tech defeated Valparaiso 11-0 in six innings of play on the final day of the Wichita St. Tournament. Freshman Jennifer Corkin went 3 for 4 at the plate with one RBI, while freshman Jennifer Bowers went 2 for 3 at the plate with one RBI and sophomore Heather Parker also went 2 for 3 with two RBI. Texas Tech is now 12-9 on the season.

The Red Raiders scored in the first inning when senior Kelly Rhyne smashed a homerun over left field and scored Brandy Moulin. In the second inning, H, Parker singled and then advanced to second on the throw. She scored designated player, Whitney Riley. The next RBI was H, Parker when Enderlin singled to right field. With an error by the catcher, Ashley Parker was able to cross the plate.

Tech scored two more runs in the third inning. Riley reached first on an error by second base and allowed pinch runner Amanda Oakes to score. H, Parker tallied one more RBI as she grounded out to short stop scoring Bowers.

The Crusaders were still not able to contain the Red Raiders as they posted four more runs in the sixth inning. H, Parker lead off with a double and A, Parker singled, filling in the corners for Enderlin. Enderlin reached first on an error by shortstop allowing H, Parker to score. Tech loaded the bases for Corkin as she singled through the left side scoring A, Parker. Bowers followed with a single up the middle, allowing Enderlin to cross the plate. Heather Freeman was able to score on a pop up to second base by Whitney Riley.



Erin Crawford pitched four innings for the Red Raiders facing 14 batters, striking out six and walking one. Julie Hauck pitching two innings of relief, facing six batters and striking out one.

Crawford, Enderlin and Bowers were all selected for All-Tournament team.

The Red Raiders will travel back to Lubbock and face Texas St. in a double header on Tues., March, 15 starting at 2 p.m.
