Red Raider Softball Rallies Past Liberty|

ALBUQURQUE, New Mexico - In the first game, Liberty came out fast as they scored four of their five runs in four innings. The first score for the Flames came in the first inning on a sacrifice fly to right field. They posted two more runs in the third inning when they scored on a passed ball and on a single. They posted their fourth run in the fourth inning with a single homerun to centerfield.
The Red Raiders drowned the Flames as Tech rallied past them in the fifth. Tech put up one run in the bottom of the fourth as senior Kelly Rhyne hit a bomb to left center. The Red Raiders scored four runs in the fifth inning to pull ahead. The inning started off with a single to left center from freshman Whitney Riley and she advanced to second on a stolen base.
Bowers earned an RBI as she tripled to right field and then scored on a wild pitch. Sophomore Heather Parker walked and then was advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt from sophomore Natalie Kula. Junior Heather Freeman was put in as the designated player and doubled to right field to score Parker. Freeman scored on a single up the middle by Rhyne.
Liberty scored one run in the seventh inning to tie the game and send it into extra innings as Tech could not score in the bottom of the seventh.
The Red Raiders took advantage of the Flames not scoring in the eighth inning and put up the winning run. With runners on first and second, freshman Jennifer Bowers singled to left field scoring pinch runner Amanda Oakes.
