Tech's win evened the all-time series between the two schools at 1-1 as Long Island defeated the Red Raiders last year in the USF The Game Tournament.
The Red Raiders' six-run first inning was its second-largest output in the opening inning this season. Tech plated seven runners in the first inning just a few games ago against Alcorn State on March 13.
Logan Hall's RBI single in the first gave Tech 303 runs for the season, breaking the school's single-season record set last year. The Red Raiders enter Saturday's doubleheader with 309 runs scored on the year.
Hall also recorded her team-leading 13th multiple-hit game of the season after going 2-for-4 at the plate with two runs scored and two RBIs. It marked the 10th time she had multiple RBIs in a game this season.
After snapping her 13 game hit streak earlier in the day, Emily Bledsoe responded with a 2-for-2 game at the plate, including a run scored and an RBI.
Randi Tongate has had at least one RBI in each of her last three starts. She finished 1-for-3 at the plate with a run scored and a RBI single in the first.
McKenzie Clemmons matched her career high with three hits in the game after going 3-for-4 in the game. She set her career high earlier this year against Bryant on Feb. 19 in Lubbock.
