TEXAS TECH TEAM NOTES
Baylor clinched the series for the second-straight season with the win as the Lady Bears are now 33-12 all-time against Texas Tech, including a 17-4 mark in games played in Lubbock.
Texas Tech heads into Sunday's series finale having never been swept in a three-game series by Baylor in school history.
Texas Tech lost back-to-back games at Rocky Johnson Field for the first time this season.
Texas Tech and Baylor both finished with six hits in the game, marking just the second time this year where the Red Raiders had matched their opponents in the category. Tech is now 1-1 in those games this year and 14-7 all-time under Shanon Hays.
Texas Tech was previously 24-3 this season when scoring at least three runs in a game.
The Red Raiders were also 15-3 this year when scoring in the opening inning as well.
Baylor scored in the first inning for the second-straight day, marking just the ninth time this year where an opponent has plated a run in the opening frame. Tech is now 5-4 in those games this season.
Texas Tech entered the series having allowed only eight runs in the first inning all season. Baylor has already scored five in both games this weekend.
Texas Tech issued a season-high seven walks, breaking the previous mark of six that had occurred five times already this season.
Texas Tech's seven walks were its most since issuing seven to Baylor on May 3 last year in Waco.
Texas Tech stole its 72nd base of the season, moving the Red Raiders nine shy of the single-season school record from 2001 season.
