STILLWATER, Okla. - Tarah Ettinger broke up a 1-1 tie in the 10th inning with a two-out walk-off RBI single that helped Oklahoma State even its series with Texas Tech after a 2-1 victory at Cowgirl Stadium.

The game was resumed in the eighth inning after thunderstorms halted the game with one out and two outs in the eighth inning Friday night. Ettinger was at the plate when play resumed but Tech starter Cara Custer worked herself out of the jam.

Custer (12-5) went the distance in the circle for Tech (27-13; 1-1) as she surrendered just five hits over 9.2 innings, the longest outing of her career. The right-hander struck out five and walked three while giving up just one earned run.

Oklahoma State (23-14; 1-1) tied the game in the eighth inning right before the rain hit off a fielder's choice from Tamara Brown that stayed just fair at first and allowed Ari Morrison to sneak home from third.

Sandy James broke up a scoreless game with a leadoff home run to begin the eighth inning. It was one of eight hits for the Red Raiders, who left 11 runners on base, including two in both the first and seventh innings.

Tech struck out a total of 17 times against the pair of Kat Espinosa and Simone Freeman. Espinosa struck out seven over the first six innings Friday evening before Freeman relieved her with no outs and two on in the seventh.

Five of Tech's strikeouts came after play resumed as Freeman finished with 10 overall in the game. The 17 strikeouts match the Tech school record that has been set twice, most recently against Texas on March 2, 2003.

Freeman (11-7) picked up the win after allowing just two hits - the eighth-inning home run from James and then a leadoff single to start the 10th by Katelyn Williams - over four full innings..

The series finale between the two teams is currently in progress at Cowgirl Stadium.
