Samantha Camello recorded the only hit for the Red Raiders (27-12; 0-3) with a one-out single in the first inning before Canion proceeded to retire the next 19 hitters in order.

"Baylor obviously has one of the best pitchers in the country in Canion," Tech head coach Shanon Hays said. "She has always been tough to get runs off of and today was no different. I thought Gretchen (Aucoin) had one of her better outings and gave us a chance, but we just couldn't find that key hit. We still feel good about this club and how we can play, though."

Canion (15-5) did not allow a Tech hitter to reach base following Camello's single until Cassie McClure drew a two-out walk in the bottom of the seventh. Canion finished with nine strikeouts in what was her seventh shutout of the season.

Her performance downplayed a solid outing in the circle from Gretchen Aucoin (8-5), who struck out the side in both the first and second innings before Baylor (27-6; 3-1) was able to record its first hit an inning later.

Jordan Strickland recorded her first of two hits in the game with a one-out double in the third as Baylor loaded the bases on Aucoin before she was able to induce a 5-2-3 double play to end the inning.

Baylor struck an inning later, though, as Clair Hosack delivered her fourth home run of the series with a solo shot to left center field. Hosack, who now has nine home runs this season, finished with eight RBI in the series alone.

Strickland added an insurance run in the seventh with her fifth home run of the season that sailed just over the left field fence. She finished 2-for-3 on the day.

Aucoin allowed the two runs off just five hits while fanning nine as well. It was the fourth time this year where Aucoin surrendered two or less runs in a losing effort.

The series sweep was the first for Baylor over Tech since the Big 12 turned to a three-game series prior to the 2012 season. The Red Raiders had not previously been shut out by the Lady Bears since falling, 1-0, on April 3, 2010, in Waco.

The Red Raiders continue Big 12 play next weekend, traveling to the state capital of Austin to face Texas in a three-game series that begins with a 4:30 p.m. first pitch Friday afternoon.
