Final Stats

LUBBOCK, Texas - Freshman Kristina Blair went the distance allowing just two Oklahoma State base runners as Texas Tech wins its first Big 12 Conference of the season, 1-0, Sunday afternoon at "The Rock," in Lubbock, Texas.

Tech (12-28, 1-7 Big 12) got all the offense that it would need from junior Kristi Robles as she blasted a Cami Carter fastball over the left field fence in the bottom of the fifth.

OSU (24-13, 4-5 Big 12) got a leadoff double to center from Jade Lindly in the top of the fifth to break up Blair's no-hit bid.

Blair's drop ball was in top form as 13 of 21 outs were groundouts. She also benefited from solid defensive plays highlighted by Robles' diving stab in the top of the fourth. Casey O'Neil's hit bid was erased as Robles dove to her right and threw out the OSU shortstop at first from her knees.

The scarlet and black pounded out eight hits on the afternoon and had several chances to break the game open early. None of Tech's chances were bigger than in the fourth. A walk to Andera Joachims was erased as Lisa Lawler reached on a fielder's choice. Senior Eva Harshman followed with her second hit of the game, giving Tech first and second with one out. Carmen Grindell then singled to left-center but Harshman got hung up between second and third, in the pursuing rundown Harshman was tagged out and Lawler was erased at the plate ending the Tech rally.

The shutout is the second turned in by a Tech pitcher in its last three games after only having one through the first 37 games. Blair improves to 6-8 on the season as she fanned a career high-tying five Cowgirls while Carter falls to 9-5.

The Red Raiders will hit the road for its next four games traveling to Texas A&M on Wednesday followed by Kansas for a two-game weekend series.
