The win marked Tech's seventh in the last nine games against Iowa State. The Red Raiders now lead the series 19-13 all-time.
Tech's 16 runs snapped the school record of 15 set Saturday for the most runs in a Big 12 game.
Tech scored 31 runs in the two-game series, its most in a conference series in school history.
The Red Raiders are now 27-1 this year when scoring in the first inning. Tech is also now 29-2 when scoring before its opponent.
Sandy James' grand slam in the second inning was her team-leading 14th homer of the season, moving the sophomore one shy of the single-season record held by teammate Mikey Kenney (2010) and Kim Martinez (1997). It marked James' second grand slam this year and the fifth for the Red Raiders as a team.
James' eight RBIs in the game tied the school record set by Emily Bledsoe and Amanda Douglas, who originally set the mark on March 12, 2003 against New Mexico State. Bledsoe matched the record last year on March 7 against Boise State.
Bledsoe's leadoff single in the first moved her reached base mark to 43 games. She finished the game 2-for-5 at the plate with two runs score and a RBI.
Cydney Allen's three-run homer in the fourth inning was her 12th of the season and first since hitting a go-ahead grand slam against Jacksonville on March 18.
Mikey Kenney came across to score five times in the game, breaking the previous school record of four. Stephanie Drewry was the most-previous Tech player to match the record, doing so on Feb. 27, 2009 against South Florida.
