Final Stats

LUBBOCK, Texas - Tech Swept Away by Stars, 7-3 Jana Baker hits first homerun of the season in losing effort.

LUBBOCK, Texas - Oklahoma City scored a run in the first, two in the third and one in the fourth as it cruised to a 7-3 win over Texas Tech in game two of Tuesday's doubleheader at Rocky Johnson Field in Lubbock, Texas.

Oklahoma City (37-8) did not waste anytime in getting on the board as it scored a run in the first as Paula German led off the game with a single and later scored on a suicide squeeze by Stephanie Grange.

Tech (12-34, 1-11 Big 12) got a solo shot over the left-centerfield fence from junior Jana Baker in the home-half of the second braking the Red Raider scoreless inning streak at 34 and tied the game at 1-1.

Stars catcher Heather Martin put Oklahoma City back on top for good as she hit an 0-2 pitch over the left field fence in the top of the third plating Grange who had singled, giving OCU a 3-1 lead.

The Red Raiders would mount a comeback in the bottom of the fifth as seniors Carmen Grindell and Eva Harshman led off the inning with back-to-back doubles cutting the OCU lead to 4-2. The rally would end there as a fly out to right advanced Harshman to third where she was stranded as Esmerelda Perez's hit bid was snared by the third baseman.

In the sixth, Tech mounted a second comeback attempt with two outs as Kristi Robles and Baker recorded back-to-back singles. Grindell's grounder to short was booted allowing Robles to score and cut into the lead, 6-3. But Ashley Ready's hit bid was fielded by Katy Letts at short and she cut down Harshman at second for the final out of the inning.

Texas Tech will return to action tomorrow afternoon at 2 p.m. as the 18th ranked Texas Longhorns come to town for a mid-week doubleheader. Between games former Red Raider All-American pitcher Amanda Renfro will be honored for her accomplishments as her number is retired.
