Box Score

AMES, Iowa - The Lady Raider softball team fell 6-3 to Iowa State today at Southwest Athletic Complex in Ames, Iowa. A seventh inning scoring drive with three hits was not enough to give the Lady Raiders a win.

Cyclone, Katie Ruby got the first hit of the game but was caught stealing at second to close out the first inning at 0-0. In the third, Lisa Lawler hit a double for the team's first hit and Arlene Newton followed with a walk. Esmerelda Perez singled but a double play by the Cyclones kept the Lady Raiders off the board.

In the fourth, Ruby hit a homerun, her eighth of the season, to put the Cyclones on top 1-0. In the fifth, Erica Martinez hit a two-run single to edge the lead to 3-0. Lindsey Herrin hit a two-run single in the sixth, and she scored again on an error to finish the scoring drive at 6-0.

In the seventh, Andrea Joachims led off with a walk and was followed by a single by Lawler, who finished the day 3-for-3. Shayne Gipson singled to put Tech on the board with one run. With bases loaded Robles hit a double to cut the lead to 6-3. However a Tech groundout concluded the game at a 6-3 Cyclone victory.
