Softball Takes a Pair from Texas A&M|
April 25, 1998
COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The No. 17 Texas Tech Red Raiders swept Texas A&M in softball action Saturday, winning the first 3-1 and the second 2-1. The wins improve Tech to 44-16, 10-6 in the Big 12. A&M falls to 32-24-1, 6-10 in conference play.
If someone had to named the MVP of the two game series, only a fool wouldn't vote for Tech shortstop Paula Workman. The sophomore from Spicewood drove in three of the Red Raiders' five runs in the tight sweep. After going 1-for-3 with two RBI's in the first game, her seventh home run of the season proved to be the difference in the second game. Tamara Harrington drove in the other run.
Amanda Renfro pitched a complete game three-hitter for her twenty first victory (versus ten losses) of the season in the first game. The nightcap had her padding her record to 22-10 for two sweet innings of work. Emily Hayes did the six innings of dirty wok, limiting the Aggies to one run on six hits.
Tech tries to pull the same duel magic on Sunday when it plays two against Texas. The first game is scheduled for noon, the second at 2 p.m.
