Final Stats

LUBBOCK, Texas - Nebraska got a lead off homerun from Kim Ogee and a solo shot from Leigh Surh in the second as it completed the two-game sweep, 6-2, of Texas Tech at Rocky Johnson Field in Lubbock, Texas, Sunday afternoon.

Nebraska (42-11, 11-5 Big 12) would take a 3-0 lead into the seventh before breaking the game open with three runs on two hits highlighted by Amanda Buchholtz's bunt single. Andrea Joachims played the bunt at third and tried to cut the runner down at the plate. The throw got away from catcher Jana Baker and both Anne Steffan and Ogee scored to extend the Husker lead, 5-0.

Tech (13-39, 2-16 Big 12) mounted a two-out rally in the bottom of the seventh, but it fell short when Esmerelda Perez struck out with senior Eva Harshman on second. With one out, Britney Stolle singled and with Harshman on deck Joachims drew a 3-2 walk. Harshman then doubled to the left-center field gap plating both Stolle and Joachims and making the score 6-2.

Leigh Ann Walker went the distance striking out five while walking three for her 24th win of the season while junior Maggie Ayres lasted one-and-one thirds of an inning giving up two runs on two hits in dropping her eighth game of the season.

Nebraska will be the third seed at next week's Big 12 Tournament at Don Porter ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City, Okla., while Tech will be the 10 seed and have to win a play-in game against the yet to be determined seven seed at 5 p.m. on Thurs., May 2.
