The loss ends Tech's regular season as the Red Raiders (35-19; 8-10) will wait a full week before learning if they have earned an at-large spot into the NCAA Championship. Tech closed the regular season 6-4 in its last 10 games with series wins in three of its final four weekends.

Despite the loss, Tech secured a top-four finish in the Big 12 Conference standings by virtue of Texas' 8-0 victory over Kansas. It is the highest finish for the Red Raiders in the conference standings since ending the 2001 season third overall.

Oklahoma (43-10; 14-2) secured at least a share of the Big 12 title with the win as the Sooners jumped out to an early lead behind a two-run single from Shelby Pendley and three-run homer by Leslie Miller in the opening frame.

The five-run first inning cut Tech starter Gretchen Aucoin's(14-9) day short after Cara Custer came on in relief to start the second inning. The Red Raiders used a total of four pitchers as Cassie McClure and Brittany Talley both saw action as well.

The Sooners added six more runs in the second, highlighted by a Whitney Ellis grand slam that all but put the game out of reach for the Red Raiders. Ellis was one of three Sooners with at least three RBI in the rout, joining Pendley and Miller, who both drove in runs earlier in the second.

The Red Raiders' struggles at the plate throughout the series continued as Tech was held to just two hits by Pendley - a leadoff single from Sydni Emanuel to open the game and a single from Brittany Warnecke in the fourth.

Pendley (1-0), who was making just her first start of the season in the circle, finished with five strikeouts and a pair of walks to earn her first career victory.

The NCAA Selection Show is scheduled to air at 9 p.m. CT next Sunday evening on ESPN2. The entire field of 64 teams will be announced during the show for the NCAA Regional round that runs May 16-18 at various campus sites around the country.
