The Red Raiders will finish the season in eighth place of the Big 12 standings as Iowa State fell to Missouri Saturday afternoon, eliminating itself from catching Tech. Several conference games are still scheduled for Sunday afternoon.
The win allowed Texas A&M to extend its home winning streak to 24 games, the second-longest active streak in the country. The Aggies did not drop a home game all season.
The Red Raiders have now lost the last eight games in the series as A&M now leads the 11-25 all-time and 4-14 in games at College Station.
Emily Bledsoe experienced a little bit of déjà vu as the junior began the game with a leadoff walk before being plunked by a pitch to start the third. The sequence matched Bledsoe's first two at-bats from Friday night. It marked the 51st game Bledsoe has reached base this season.
Brittany Talley's one inning of relief marked her first appearance out of the bullpen since coming in during both games of an April 6 doubleheader against Baylor. The freshman threw over 100 pitches Friday night in the series opener.
Sandy James' RBI double in the fourth was her first in Tech's last four games. James now has 59 RBIs on the year, the second-most of any Tech player in school history.
Kelsey Dennis' outing was her best since only giving up a run in the series opener at Oklahoma State on April 16. Dennis surrendered only one run against the Cowgirls as opposed to the two earned runs given up to the Aggies.
Taylor Powell earned the start in the designated player spot as the freshman went 0-for-2 in the game. The start was only the third of the year for Powell and first during Big 12 play.
