LUBBOCK, Texas - Adriana Perez picked up another preseason nod Monday as the Texas Tech senior was honored as a third-team All-American by the website collegesportsmadness.com.
The selection marked Perez' second preseason accolade this season as she was named to the All-Big 12 first team a week ago. She was joined by 10 other Big 12 players on one of the website's four preseason All-America teams.
Perez quickly emerged as one of the top hitters in a potent Red Raider offense a year ago as she belted a team-high 15 home runs to go along with a .351 average and 55 RBI. Her 15 home runs finished just one shy of the Tech single-season record while her RBI total ended the year ranked tied for third all-time.
The Lancaster, Calif. native was named to the All-Big 12 second team at the conclusion of the 2012 season while also earning NFCA All-Central Region first team honors as well. She was also honored by College Sports Madness as the Big 12 Field Player of the Year as well as on the All-Big 12 first team and the website's first-team All-America list.
Perez and the Red Raiders begin the 2013 season on Feb. 8 in Las Vegas, Nev. for the Sportco Kick-Off Classic where Tech will face Central Florida and DePaul in an opening-day doubleheader.
