Softball Competes in Alabama Tournament This Weekend|

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech fastpitch softball team will face Austin Peay Friday at 6:30 p.m. and Northeastern Illinois at noon on Saturday in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
The Red Raiders enter the tournament with a 12-4 record. The team started a four-game winning streak last weekend when they swept Southwest Texas in a doubleheader. The Red Raiders continued their success Tuesday by defeating Abilene Christian University 6-0 and 8-2. In Tech's first game of the weekend, the Red Raiders will face Austin Peay. The Lady Govs return 10 starters from last year's team that finished 17-23. The game versus Texas Tech will mark Austin Peay's first contest of the season.
On Saturday, Northeastern Illinois will start off their season playing the Red Raiders as well. The Golden Eagle's finished last season with a 23-31 record. The team is lead by senior shortstop Michelle Oswald, the 1996 Mid-Continent Conference Player of the Year. Oswald hit a team-high .408, recording 10 homeruns, 23 walks and 38 runs batted in last season.
The Red Raiders will continue play in Alabama Saturday afternoon and Sunday. The times are pending the outcome of the squad's first two games.
