The Texas Tech softball team will play its home opener on Wednesday, March 10, against New Mexico State in a doubleheader beginning at 1:00p.m. at the Texas Tech Intramural Fields.

The Red Raiders enter the contest with 13-15 season record while the Aggies come to town with a 3-15 record. Texas Tech won the last meeting between the two team 6-2 on March 3, 1997. The Red Raiders hold the series record 2-1.

Tech will be looking to rebound after a dismal showing in the Hillenbrand Invitational Tournament in Tucson, Arizona this past weekend. The team went 1-4 with the only victory coming in an 8-3 win over Notre Dame. The Raiders fell to conference rival Kansas 0-1, LSU 0-2, 3-4 and Arizona 0-4. Tech is led by seniors Paula Workman and Kim Martinez who have a combined 46 hits on 170 at-bats.

The Texas Tech Intramural Fields are located in front of University Medical Center. Admission is free.
