LUBBOCK, Texas - The Lady Raider softball team broke its ten game losing streak as it dealt #23 Kansas an 8-4 loss today at Rocky Johnson Field, in Lubbock, Texas. The team logged five doubles with Esmerelda Perez, Shayne Gipson, Elyssa Sigala, Amanda Douglas and Kristi Robles slotting doubles.

Tech logged its first hit of the game in the second off a single by Tiffany Harrington. Harrington advanced home after the Kansas third basemen threw the ball into the dugout on a throw out attempt. With Gipson on second after a fielder's choice, Sigala doubled, giving Tech a 2-0 lead in the third.

Tech exploded in the fourth with three of the team's five doubles being scored in the fourth. Perez, Gipson and Douglas had triples back to back and Robles wrapped up the scoring drive with a two-RBI single to give Tech a 6-0 lead heading into the fifth.

Kansas came back in the fifth to avoid a Tech shutout and halting pitcher Erin Crawford's no-hit game. Kansas logged four singles, scoring four runs cutting the game lead to 6-4.

With bases loaded in the bottom of the fifth, Kara Pierce entered the game for starter Kirsten Milhoan. A Lady Raider run was scored off a wild pitch and Sigala, was intentionally walked, for the second time in the game. In the sixth, leadoff batter Robles, going 2-of-3 on the day, hit a double and was sent home on a single by Kelly Rhyne. Crawford, pitching her seventh complete game, allowed no hits in the seventh to secure an 8-4 win.

The Lady Raiders (15-33, 2-8) will next head to Waco, Texas, for a double header, Tues., versus Baylor (25-18, 1-7) beginning at 2 pm.
