LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech junior pitcher Amanda Renfro has been honored as Big 12 Pitcher of the Week for the week ending April 9 according to a press release from the Big 12 Conference office released this afternoon. The selection marks the second time this season Renfro has been honored with the award.

Renfro, a Houston native who attended Lutheran High School, pitched Texas Tech to a pair of victories over the Kansas Jayhawks this past weekend. She pitched five innings of two-hit shutout softball in an 8-0 win on Saturday and followed it up with her fourth no-hitter of the season in a 1-0 victory on Sunday. In her fourth no-hitter of the season and fifth of her career, Renfro struck out eight Jayhawk batters and walked only one while facing 24 batters.

A 1998 All-Big 12 first team selection, Renfro leads the conference in earned run average at 1.15 entering the week. She is also tops in the league in innings pitched (194.2), strikeouts (8.05 per game) and is tied for first with 8 shutouts.

Renfro also earned Big 12 Pitcher of the Week honors on March 7 of this season. She is one of only two Big 12 pitchers to have been singled out for the honor in the 2000 season.
