Red Raider softball team ranked #17

LUBBOCK, Texas - After three weeks as the number 19 team in the nation, Texas Tech has moved to 17th in the latest USA Today/ National Fastpitch Coaches Association Top 25 poll. The Red Raiders, who are 42-16 on the season and 8-6 in Big 12 play, swept Baylor last weekend to move to fourth place in the league race. Tech will take on Texas A&M Saturday in College Station and then head to Austin where they will battle #8 Texas, who is currently third in the conference.

"Of course we are thrilled to have moved up, but we still have plenty of work ahead of us. This will be a crucial weekend for our program. Texas A&M and Texas both have solid programs and we will have to play tough to win," Texas Tech Head Coach Renee Luers-Gillispie said.

Other Big 12 schools making the Top 25 list, were Oklahoma, Nebraska, Oklahoma State, and Missouri.
