Norman, Oklahoma -

The Texas Tech softball team pulled out a win over 9th ranked Oklahoma on Saturday thanks to a power explosion from the middle of its lineup.

Three homeruns by the Red Raiders (30-26,5-6 Big 12) in the first two innings staked them to a 4-0 lead. Kim Martinez, Paula Workman and Eva Harshman delivered the big blows for Tech.

"Coaching wise, you don't have to do much if they are going to do that," said Tech head coach Renee Gillispie of her team's homerun outburst. "The kids just came out and did well."

A strong pitching performance by Amanda Renfro helped the lead hold up against the Sooners. Renfro completed the rain shortened 5 1/2 inning game.

"(Renfro) did a good job out there," Gillispie said. "She got a little tired in the fourth, going to full counts on several hitters, but she picked it up to finish the game."
